Eurovision: The Game of Thrones Of European Singers
The 2012 Eurovision song contest (a one night stand "American Idol" like contest for European countries) took place this past Saturday. Over 120 million viewers and one winner, Loreen representing Sweden with her song Euphoria. If you think you will never hear this song here in the US you are wrong, the remix is likely to play over and over for months in all A&F stores around the country ;-) Listen to Euphoria below:
As for France ... well, Eurovision is more than just a song contest it is also a geopolitical vote and unless (like Sweden) you have a song that everybody is gonna love, you will get the "popular" votes (countries voting for their favorite neighbor, knowing you cannot vote for your own country) ...
Like every year France is not getting much love, just like the UK, France reigns at the Eurovision as one of the 5 countries that will be always represented, no matter what, when the other countries have to go through pre-selections to make it to the finals which is not the way to make friends among other countries. Yes, it's like the Game of Thrones of European singers, and every year France get its head chopped and put on a stick as a warning sign for the future (you will never win another contest!).
This year France was represented by a talented and beautiful singer Anggun. You may remember that we posted her great video back in March [Watch France Hot Official Music Video For Echo By Anggun]
Check out Anggun's live performance with some impressive (and hot looking) dancers/gymnasts. Her dress was made by Jean Paul Gaultier ... pretty hot too!
The runner up this year, Russia’s group 'Buranovskiye Babushki' (Buranovo Grannies) who clearly got the Miss Congeniality vote ... as for the other contestants, it was just another classic Eurovision song contest kind of night ... Congratulation to Serbia for taking an honorable 3rd pace. You can listen to Serbian song HERE.
